FutureA+
Larceny in the Round 3 slot lands the Browns a B-, Bell and all. You could see the war room lean forward. Chris Bell at the Round 3 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In Round 1, Pick 6 they get a three-down second-level presence. Need was not the driver here.
Pick39
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter in pick 39 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick70
Rnd3
Chris Bell
Somehow Chris Bell was still sitting there in pick No. 70, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick95
Rnd3
Austin Barber
They let Austin Barber come to them and pounced at slot 95. It fills a real need, too.
Pick107
Rnd4
Daylen Everette
Daylen Everette slipping to the Round 4 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick139
Rnd5
Isaiah World
They paid sticker price for Isaiah World in the 139th pick, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick147
Rnd5
Beau Stephens
Beau Stephens in No. 147 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick204
Rnd6
Le'Veon Moss
No edge and no loss on Le'Veon Moss in the 204th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick248
Rnd7
Andre Fuller
The board had Andre Fuller higher than the 248th overall pick, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
