FutureA+
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Chiefs a B+. The Chiefs torched the value chart for Nicholas Singleton, taking him 22 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.
Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. That Regis pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
The Brevyn Spann-Ford pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Sonny Styles
In pick 24 they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece. A real need, handled.
Pick40
Rnd2
Christen Miller
Christen Miller at the 40th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick74
Rnd3
Nicholas Singleton
Nicholas Singleton in Round 3, Pick 10 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick107
Rnd4
Daylen Everette
Daylen Everette in pick No. 107 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick109
Rnd4
Bishop Fitzgerald
No drama and no debate, Bishop Fitzgerald went about where he belonged in slot 109. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick146
Rnd5
Reggie Virgil
The board had cheaper options than Reggie Virgil at the 146th overall pick, and it noticed. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick176
Rnd5
Albert Regis
The board had Albert Regis higher than slot 176, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick204
Rnd6
Eric McAlister
Value with a capital V on Eric McAlister in the Round 6 slot, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick215
Rnd6
Josh Moten
A tidy little value on Josh Moten in Round 6, Pick 36, a step better than break-even. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
