Draft Grade — Browns
Overall A-
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureA+
The Browns won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: A-.

The trade table was a mismatch, and the Browns were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. The Browns clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before. The Lew pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Spencer Fano and all.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Spencer Fano
In the 9th overall pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick40 Rnd2 Chris Johnson
Chris Johnson in pick No. 40 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick57 Rnd2 Antonio Williams
Antonio Williams at pick 57 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick78 Rnd3 Connor Lew
Connor Lew at slot 78 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick107 Rnd4 Joe Royer
A clean, defensible pick in the 107th pick with a little surplus value in Joe Royer. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick113 Rnd4 Keylan Rutledge
The board had cheaper options than Keylan Rutledge at the Round 4 slot, and it noticed. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick139 Rnd5 Tim Keenan III
They paid sticker price for Tim Keenan III in Round 5, Pick 1, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick144 Rnd5 Kage Casey
No drama and no debate, Kage Casey went about where he belonged in No. 144. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick146 Rnd5 Beau Stephens
Beau Stephens at pick No. 146 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick147 Rnd5 Jalen Stroman
No edge and no loss on Jalen Stroman in pick 147; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick163 Rnd5 Bryce Boettcher
They took Bryce Boettcher at par in the 163rd overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick204 Rnd6 Sawyer Robertson
By-the-book stuff, Sawyer Robertson at No. 204 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick248 Rnd7 Alan Herron
Alan Herron in the 248th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
