Draft Grade — Panthers

FutureB-
The Panthers let Daniels fall and pounced. Final grade: B. The board owed the Panthers one, and it paid up: CJ Daniels, the No. 169 name on the board, sitting there at No. 194 like a gift left on the doorstep. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
Barton has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. For all the activity, safety went untouched, which is hard to explain. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Peter Woods
In the 13th pick they get a premier pass rusher. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick56
Rnd2
Arvell Reese
Arvell Reese at pick No. 56 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick78
Rnd3
Malik Muhammad
Nice patience on Malik Muhammad, who had no business lasting to Round 3, Pick 14. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick87
Rnd3
Caleb Tiernan
No edge and no loss on Caleb Tiernan in No. 87; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick113
Rnd4
Chandler Rivers
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Chandler Rivers at the Round 4 slot is the proof. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick156
Rnd5
Aaron Graves
They paid a round early for Aaron Graves in slot 156, more than the board wanted. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick158
Rnd5
Lander Barton
Lander Barton in the 158th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick194
Rnd6
CJ Daniels
The board fumbled CJ Daniels all the way to pick 194, and they scooped it up. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick230
Rnd7
Trey Zuhn III
Nothing to complain about; Trey Zuhn III went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
