Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall A
ValueA+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureA+
Grand theft in the Round 7 slot: the Bengals steal Sadiq and grade out a A.

Call it larceny. Kenyon Sadiq sat on the board until pick 223, and the Bengals did not need to be asked twice. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A to show for it.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The linebacker hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

The veteran additions, Dion Dawkins chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

Bottom line, with Spencer Fano leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick Analysis
Pick43 Rnd2 Spencer Fano
A offensive lineman of that caliber at pick No. 43 is the definition of value, full stop. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick57 Rnd2 David Bailey
Circle this one: David Bailey at No. 57 is a fall that decides a draft. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick74 Rnd3 Jermod McCoy
Jermod McCoy at the 74th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick89 Rnd3 Carnell Tate
Steal is underselling it; Carnell Tate at pick 89 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick109 Rnd4 Darrell Jackson Jr.
Darrell Jackson Jr. in Round 4, Pick 9 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick122 Rnd4 Nicholas Singleton
Somehow Nicholas Singleton was still sitting there in slot 122, and they pounced on premier running back value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick125 Rnd4 Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman at the 125th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick188 Rnd6 Dani Dennis-Sutton
Taking Dani Dennis-Sutton in the Round 6 slot is close to grand larceny; an edge rusher that good had no business lasting this long. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick201 Rnd6 Cashius Howell
The board fumbled Cashius Howell all the way to pick 201, and they scooped it up. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick223 Rnd7 Kenyon Sadiq
Kenyon Sadiq in pick No. 223 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
