Draft Grade — Raiders

Mendoza is the plan now, and the Raiders grade out a C. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Raiders spent their marquee pick on Fernando Mendoza, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
Randall has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Hit on Fernando Mendoza and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Fernando Mendoza
In pick No. 1 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick36
Rnd2
Omar Cooper Jr.
Omar Cooper Jr. in Round 2, Pick 4 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick49
Rnd2
Caleb Tiernan
No edge and no loss on Caleb Tiernan in the 49th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick67
Rnd3
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at slot 67 is the proof. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick102
Rnd4
Tacario Davis
By-the-book stuff, Tacario Davis at the 102nd pick squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick117
Rnd4
Trey Zuhn III
A reach on Trey Zuhn III in the Round 4 slot; the board had better options right there. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick134
Rnd4
Zxavian Harris
Zxavian Harris in pick 134 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick175
Rnd5
Jeff Caldwell
Jeff Caldwell at No. 175 is a conviction pick that outran the value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick185
Rnd6
Kaleb Elarms-Orr
They did well to land Kaleb Elarms-Orr in pick No. 185, just ahead of his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick208
Rnd6
Riley Nowakowski
They jumped the gun on Riley Nowakowski, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It fills a real need, too.
Pick219
Rnd7
Adam Randall
A real head-scratcher, Adam Randall in slot 219 is miles ahead of his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
