Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureC+
The Seahawks let Fields fall into their laps, and walked away with a D-.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Seahawks did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D-.

A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. The Davis pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher, running back and other spots still on the board. The cost of the Campbell reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Fields.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Avieon Terrell
In No. 28 they get a lockdown presence outside, outstanding value to boot. More want than need.
Pick40 Rnd2 Sonny Styles
They did well to land Sonny Styles in pick 40, just ahead of his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick64 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
Nice patience on Jake Slaughter, who had no business lasting to slot 64. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick96 Rnd3 Malachi Fields
Circle this one: Malachi Fields at Round 3, Pick 32 is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick106 Rnd4 Tacario Davis
A curious use of the 106th pick. Edge rusher, running back and other spots needed the pick; a cornerback in Tacario Davis did not.
Pick128 Rnd4 Drew Allar
By-the-book stuff, Drew Allar at the Round 4 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick146 Rnd5 DJ Campbell
The board had cheaper options than DJ Campbell at pick 146, and it noticed. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick211 Rnd6 J. Michael Sturdivant
J. Michael Sturdivant in the 211th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
