The Rams did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Rams took Caleb Tiernan a full 25 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They banked enough surplus on Bentley to cover a lot of smaller sins. They went 7 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Mansoor Delane
In the Round 1 slot they get a potential shutdown corner. More want than need.
Pick29 Rnd1 Caleb Tiernan
In the 29th pick they get a blindside protector, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick61 Rnd2 Michael Taaffe
A premium they did not need to pay, Michael Taaffe a notch or two before his time. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick93 Rnd3 Brenen Thompson
Brenen Thompson in No. 93 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick167 Rnd5 J'Mari Taylor
J'Mari Taylor in pick No. 167 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick205 Rnd6 Sawyer Robertson
By-the-book stuff, Sawyer Robertson at the 205th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick208 Rnd6 Dallen Bentley
Dallen Bentley slid further than he should have, and the Round 6 slot is lovely value for the tight end. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick232 Rnd7 Aiden Fisher
No drama and no debate, Aiden Fisher went about where he belonged in the 232nd overall pick. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick250 Rnd7 Brent Austin
Brent Austin slipping to pick 250 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick256 Rnd7 Nick Barrett
They took Nick Barrett at par in pick No. 256, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
