Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB-
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Commanders to a D.

Somebody took the Commanders to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D is the result.

Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Zuhn III reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.

They banked enough surplus on Taaffe to cover a lot of smaller sins. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and tight end is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick7 Rnd1 David Bailey
In slot 7 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, reach and all. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick51 Rnd2 Sonny Styles
Value with a capital V on Sonny Styles in pick No. 51, a genuine coup. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick71 Rnd3 Michael Taaffe
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Michael Taaffe at No. 71 is the proof. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick119 Rnd4 D'Angelo Ponds
Fair-plus on D'Angelo Ponds, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick146 Rnd5 Keylan Rutledge
Keylan Rutledge in the 146th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick187 Rnd6 Duce Robinson
Good price on Duce Robinson in Round 6, Pick 6, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick223 Rnd7 Trey Zuhn III
A reach for Trey Zuhn III in pick 223; a little patience would have been rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
