The Buccaneers turned the phones into found money: B. Whoever sat across the table from the Buccaneers should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.
They will need Alexander to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Abney II falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The Allen pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher and wide receiver still on the board.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Sonny Styles
In slot 32 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker. More want than need.
Pick52
Rnd2
CJ Allen
They bypassed pressing needs at edge rusher and wide receiver to take CJ Allen, a linebacker that was not the priority.
Pick64
Rnd2
LaNorris Sellers
Fair-plus on LaNorris Sellers, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick83
Rnd3
Eli Stowers
A quiet steal in No. 83: Eli Stowers for less than the market said. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick96
Rnd3
Keith Abney II
Keith Abney II in pick No. 96 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick128
Rnd4
Parker Brailsford
Parker Brailsford in the Round 4 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick159
Rnd5
Max Iheanachor
Max Iheanachor at the 159th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick172
Rnd5
Terrance Carter Jr.
You do not let a tight end like Terrance Carter Jr. reach the 172nd overall pick and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick200
Rnd6
Jaydn Ott
Jaydn Ott at the Round 6 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick208
Rnd6
Bud Clark
Bud Clark at Round 6, Pick 28 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick234
Rnd7
Bear Alexander
A real head-scratcher, Bear Alexander in pick No. 234 is miles ahead of his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick255
Rnd7
Jerry Wilson
Jerry Wilson at the 255th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The roster fit checks out.
