The Falcons fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B. You can hear the double-takes from here. The Falcons took Solomon Tuliaupupu at Round 7, Pick 18, roughly 80 spots before his name belonged. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through offensive lineman.
The McDonald steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The Tank Dell pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick49
Rnd2
Kayden McDonald
Kayden McDonald at slot 49 is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick75
Rnd3
Deontae Lawson
Deontae Lawson in the 75th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick107
Rnd4
Kenyatta Jackson Jr.
They jumped the gun on Kenyatta Jackson Jr., taking him earlier than his grade liked. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick110
Rnd4
Earl Little Jr.
Nothing to complain about; Earl Little Jr. went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick189
Rnd6
Josh Moten
Josh Moten at pick No. 189 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick224
Rnd7
Brandon Inniss
They reached into another round for Brandon Inniss, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick229
Rnd7
James Smith
A premium they did not need to pay, James Smith a notch or two before his time. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick232
Rnd7
Solomon Tuliaupupu
Value said wait; Solomon Tuliaupupu in pick 232 says they were not listening. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
