Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureC+
Abney II should have been long gone. The Cardinals pounced, and earned a B+.

The real work happened on the phones. The Cardinals fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.

A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. The cost of the Rutledge reach is exactly the players who went right after him. On value alone, Abney II makes the weekend a net positive.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In the 12th overall pick they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick20 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get a matchup problem out wide, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick40 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
Good price on Dillon Thieneman in slot 40, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick65 Rnd3 Keith Abney II
They barely believed it either: Keith Abney II still on the board at pick No. 65. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick74 Rnd3 Sam Hecht
The board had cheaper options than Sam Hecht at pick 74, and it noticed. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick92 Rnd3 Keylan Rutledge
Keylan Rutledge at No. 92 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick112 Rnd4 Darrell Jackson Jr.
Darrell Jackson Jr. is a better player than slot 112 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick143 Rnd5 Chris McClellan
They took Chris McClellan at par in Round 5, Pick 3, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick152 Rnd5 Dametrious Crownover
Dametrious Crownover slid further than he should have, and the 152nd overall pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick183 Rnd6 Taylen Green
No edge and no loss on Taylen Green in pick No. 183; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick217 Rnd7 Jaren Kanak
No drama and no debate, Jaren Kanak went about where he belonged in the 217th pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
