Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureD+
The 49ers won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: B.

The trade table was a mismatch, and the 49ers were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.

Coleman Jr. has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

The veteran additions, Myles Garrett chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not. They banked enough surplus on Bisontis to cover a lot of smaller sins.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Jordyn Tyson
In the Round 1 slot they get a matchup problem out wide. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick62 Rnd2 Chase Bisontis
Chase Bisontis at the 62nd pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick127 Rnd4 Julian Neal
Nice patience on Julian Neal, who had no business lasting to the 127th overall pick. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick133 Rnd4 Jakobe Thomas
A straight-up fair deal on Jakobe Thomas at pick 133, value and slot in agreement. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick138 Rnd4 Kevin Coleman Jr.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Kevin Coleman Jr.. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick139 Rnd4 Kaytron Allen
Kaytron Allen at pick No. 139 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
