Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B+
ValueC+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureB+
The 49ers worked the phones like thieves and earned a B+.

They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Caleb Douglas, 33 picks early at the 133rd overall pick. The bottom line is a respectable B+.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The offensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Scott at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick47 Rnd2 Romello Height
They reached a country mile for Romello Height at pick 47, and the board is aghast. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick62 Rnd2 A.J. Haulcy
Quietly one of the better values of the day, A.J. Haulcy at No. 62. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick78 Rnd3 Keionte Scott
Keionte Scott in the Round 3 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick127 Rnd4 Michael Trigg
Michael Trigg slipping to the 127th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick133 Rnd4 Caleb Douglas
They left a pile of value on the table to take Caleb Douglas this early at the 133rd overall pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick138 Rnd4 Kaytron Allen
They paid a round early for Kaytron Allen in pick No. 138, more than the board wanted. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick139 Rnd4 DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart at Round 4, Pick 39 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
