Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesC- FutureA
The Commanders robbed the room for Clark. Final grade: B.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Bud Clark got past him. The Commanders do not have to explain a thing at the 145th overall pick. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

Leaving offensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but offensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick32 Rnd1 Sonny Styles
In No. 32 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, and a steal at that. Need was not the driver here.
Pick55 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
They read the board right and Caleb Banks was the payoff at the 55th pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick64 Rnd2 Eli Stowers
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Eli Stowers in Round 2, Pick 32. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick71 Rnd3 Omar Cooper Jr.
Omar Cooper Jr. slipping to the 71st overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick123 Rnd4 Davison Igbinosun
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Davison Igbinosun. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick145 Rnd5 Bud Clark
Bud Clark in pick 145 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick185 Rnd6 Jaydn Ott
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 185 with a little surplus value in Jaydn Ott. It fills a real need, too.
Pick196 Rnd6 Ephesians Prysock
Ephesians Prysock at the Round 6 slot is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick223 Rnd7 Jeff Caldwell
They took Jeff Caldwell at par in the 223rd pick, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
