The Colts let Neal fall and pounced. Final grade: B-.

Somebody in pick No. 117 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Colts sat still while Devin Neal, the No. 97 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

It is not that Amos is a bad player; it is that the Colts had louder needs to answer first. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.

Reaching for Webb left real value on the table behind him. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

In Round 1, Pick 14 they get a ballhawk on the outside. Need was not the driver here.
Pick45 Rnd2 Trey Amos
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went cornerback with Trey Amos while clear needs at quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots sat open.
Pick80 Rnd3 Mason Taylor
They paid sticker price for Mason Taylor in slot 80, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick117 Rnd4 Devin Neal
Devin Neal in the 117th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick151 Rnd5 Pat Bryant
Pat Bryant at pick No. 151 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick189 Rnd6 Clay Webb
Clay Webb in the 189th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick232 Rnd7 Craig Woodson
A tidy little value on Craig Woodson in the Round 7 slot, a step better than break-even. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
