Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Falcons were there to profit. Josiah Trotter, the No. 62 name on the board, should have been long gone before Round 3, Pick 27.

They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. They bet on numbers rather than a single high pick.

Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
