Draft Grade — Rams

Simpson should have been long gone. The Rams pounced, and earned a B-.

You could see the war room lean forward. Ty Simpson at the 43rd overall pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

Miller has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Mansoor Delane
In slot 13 they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick29 Rnd1 Dillon Thieneman
In pick No. 29 they get a downhill hitter at safety. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick43 Rnd2 Ty Simpson
Taking Ty Simpson in No. 43 is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick93 Rnd3 Blake Miller
Blake Miller in the 93rd pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick167 Rnd5 Brenen Thompson
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Brenen Thompson at Round 5, Pick 29 is the proof. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick205 Rnd6 Nolan Rucci
They took Nolan Rucci at par in pick 205, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick208 Rnd6 Eric O'Neill
By-the-book stuff, Eric O'Neill at the 208th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick232 Rnd7 Shamar Easter
A straight-up fair deal on Shamar Easter at the Round 7 slot, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick250 Rnd7 Rueben Owens II
They did well to land Rueben Owens II in Round 7, Pick 34, just ahead of his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick256 Rnd7 Jalil Farooq
Jalil Farooq in the 256th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
