A sensible, unshowy class lands the Chargers a B-.

You can draft well and still miss the point. The Chargers did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to edge rusher, which was the need that mattered most.

If Jackson Jr. pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
