Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Bears, and a B- to prove it. There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Bears started one anyway for Keyron Crawford, 62 picks ahead of schedule. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up.
Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Sonny Styles
Good price on Sonny Styles in the Round 1 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It fills a real need, too.
Pick62
Rnd2
Keyron Crawford
Keyron Crawford in pick 62 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick89
Rnd3
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
Circle this one: Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at slot 89 is a fall that decides a draft. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick126
Rnd4
Jalon Kilgore
They read the board right and Jalon Kilgore was the payoff at the 126th pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick129
Rnd4
J.C. Davis
J.C. Davis at the 129th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick163
Rnd5
Pat Coogan
They left a pile of value on the table to take Pat Coogan this early at No. 163. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick168
Rnd5
David Gusta
This one needs a full-page explanation: David Gusta in the 168th pick, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick239
Rnd7
Kaden Wetjen
Kaden Wetjen in No. 239 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick241
Rnd7
De'Zhaun Stribling
A conviction pick on De'Zhaun Stribling at slot 241 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
