Hurst should have been long gone. The Seahawks pounced, and earned a B+. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Ted Hurst got past him. The Seahawks do not have to explain a thing at the 216th overall pick. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The Seahawks indulged a want in Everette while a need in edge rusher, quarterback and other spots stayed open.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick72
Rnd3
D'Angelo Ponds
D'Angelo Ponds in pick 72 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick96
Rnd3
Daylen Everette
Of all the spots to shop, they chose cornerback. Daylen Everette in Round 3, Pick 32 leaves edge rusher, quarterback and other spots for later.
Pick110
Rnd4
Emmett Johnson
They barely believed it either: Emmett Johnson still on the board at the 110th overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick187
Rnd6
Kobe Baynes
Kobe Baynes in the 187th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick216
Rnd6
Ted Hurst
Steal is underselling it; Ted Hurst at pick No. 216 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick253
Rnd7
Jimmy Rolder
Jimmy Rolder at No. 253 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
