It is a puzzling start. The Bengals had tight end, interior defensive lineman and other spots to solve and reached instead for Romello Height, an edge rusher, at the Round 2 slot.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. Getting Branch where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
