Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-

A solid, sensible weekend for the Texans: B-.

Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Texans never addressed wide receiver, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

They will need Banks to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Running back is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it. Their trades came out a wash either way.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Caleb Banks
In pick No. 31 they get a disruptive interior force, reach and all. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick38 Rnd2 Max Iheanachor
Max Iheanachor at Round 2, Pick 6 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick59 Rnd2 Jonah Coleman
They paid sticker price for Jonah Coleman in the 59th pick, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick69 Rnd3 Chase Bisontis
Chase Bisontis in slot 69 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
