Draft Grade — Rams

More right than wrong for the Rams, and a B- to prove it. The tape said wait; the Rams did not. Trevor Goosby went at slot 28, a good 25 picks before the board was ready. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Mateer steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Mansoor Delane
In the Round 1 slot they get a press-man option on the boundary. More want than need.
Pick28
Rnd1
Trevor Goosby
In No. 28 they get protection for the quarterback, a steep price for the projection. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick59
Rnd2
Kamari Ramsey
Kamari Ramsey in the 59th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick90
Rnd3
John Mateer
A slide stopped in pick 90, with John Mateer worth more than the price. The roster fit checks out.
Pick166
Rnd5
Chase Roberts
A tidy bit of business in Round 5, Pick 27, where Chase Roberts graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
