The Patriots won the night they stopped Slaughter from sliding. Grade: B.

Call it larceny. Jake Slaughter sat on the board until pick 131, and the Patriots did not need to be asked twice. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

They will need Fa'amoe to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Lawson pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with interior defensive lineman, safety and other spots still on the board.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

In slot 31 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker, and a steal at that. More want than need.
