Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Browns finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Ty Simpson is the Browns' quarterback, full stop.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. That Moss pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They will need Simpson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Ty Simpson
In pick No. 6 they get a passer to set the clock by, even if it was a touch early. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick24 Rnd1 Avieon Terrell
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a lockdown presence outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick39 Rnd2 Emmanuel Pregnon
No drama and no debate, Emmanuel Pregnon went about where he belonged in the 39th overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick70 Rnd3 Malachi Fields
They took Malachi Fields at par in No. 70, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick107 Rnd4 Emmett Johnson
They read the board right and Emmett Johnson was the payoff at the Round 4 slot. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick139 Rnd5 Kage Casey
Kage Casey at pick 139 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It fills a real need, too.
Pick144 Rnd5 Kyle Louis
A straight-up fair deal on Kyle Louis at slot 144, value and slot in agreement. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick147 Rnd5 Skyler Gill-Howard
Nothing to complain about; Skyler Gill-Howard went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick204 Rnd6 Harrison Wallace III
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Harrison Wallace III in the Round 6 slot. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick248 Rnd7 Miller Moss
Miller Moss at pick No. 248 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
