Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Patriots.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Patriots would have aced it. Deven Eastern at the 210th pick is 64 spots clear of where he belonged.

The Iheanachor value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Kenyon Sadiq
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Kenyon Sadiq at No. 31. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick63 Rnd2 Derrick Moore
They reached a country mile for Derrick Moore at the 63rd overall pick, and the board is aghast. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick95 Rnd3 Max Iheanachor
They let Max Iheanachor come to them and pounced at the Round 3 slot. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick125 Rnd4 Ted Hurst
Ted Hurst at Round 4, Pick 25 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick131 Rnd4 Kyle Louis
Kyle Louis in pick No. 131 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick169 Rnd5 Davison Igbinosun
A slide stopped in pick 169, with Davison Igbinosun worth more than the price. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick189 Rnd6 Red Murdock
Red Murdock at the 189th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick200 Rnd6 Bud Clark
They jumped the gun on Bud Clark, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick207 Rnd6 Kaelon Black
Kaelon Black in slot 207 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick210 Rnd6 Deven Eastern
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Deven Eastern. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick247 Rnd7 Eli Heidenreich
They read the board right and Eli Heidenreich was the payoff at the Round 7 slot. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
