FutureB+
A franchise passer in Manning headlines a B+ weekend for the Cowboys. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Cowboys were there to profit. Samson Okunlola, the No. 66 name on the board, should have been long gone before slot 150. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
They have staked the next five years on Arch Manning, which is the only story that really matters here. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Arch Manning
In the 12th overall pick they get their guy under center for the next decade, outstanding value to boot.
Pick47
Rnd2
Trevor Goosby
Steal is underselling it; Trevor Goosby at pick No. 47 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick78
Rnd3
Nate Frazier
They will replay Nate Frazier at Round 3, Pick 14 for years; that is how good the value is. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick112
Rnd4
Ryan Wingo
Ryan Wingo in the 112th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick150
Rnd5
Samson Okunlola
Taking Samson Okunlola in pick 150 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick177
Rnd5
Lawson Luckie
They did well to land Lawson Luckie in No. 177, just ahead of his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick215
Rnd6
Sammy Omosigho
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Sammy Omosigho in the Round 6 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick221
Rnd7
Mark Nabou Jr.
Fair-plus on Mark Nabou Jr., a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick225
Rnd7
La'khi Roland
A quiet steal in the 225th pick: La'khi Roland for less than the market said. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
