Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall D+
ValueA- NeedB- TradesF FutureA+
The Bengals let Sadiq fall and pounced. Final grade: D+.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Kenyon Sadiq got past him. The Bengals do not have to explain a thing at Round 6, Pick 36. Hard to defend, and the D+ reflects that.

They are betting Daniels proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Rueben Bain Jr.
In pick 3 they get a problem off the edge at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick34 Rnd2 Spencer Fano
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the Round 2 slot is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick74 Rnd3 Arvell Reese
Arvell Reese at pick No. 74 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick109 Rnd4 Jermod McCoy
They robbed the room for Jermod McCoy here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick188 Rnd6 Jalon Daniels
A wild overpay on Jalon Daniels in No. 188, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The roster fit checks out.
Pick201 Rnd6 LaNorris Sellers
LaNorris Sellers in the 201st overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
Pick214 Rnd6 Kenyon Sadiq
They barely believed it either: Kenyon Sadiq still on the board at the 214th pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick223 Rnd7 Tyreak Sapp
A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, Tyreak Sapp in Round 7, Pick 9, plain and simple. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick246 Rnd7 Deontae Lawson
Deontae Lawson at the 246th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick249 Rnd7 Keon Sabb
Circle this one: Keon Sabb at the Round 7 slot is a fall that decides a draft. It adds depth where they could use a little.
