Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B-
ValueC- NeedB TradesB+ FutureB-
The Jaguars let Bailey fall and pounced. Final grade: B-.

The Jaguars spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: David Bailey, the No. 18 name on the board, in the Round 7 slot. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

The Collins pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. It is not that Perkins is a bad player; it is that the Jaguars had louder needs to answer first. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick58 Rnd2 Caleb Tiernan
A wild overpay on Caleb Tiernan in the 58th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick81 Rnd3 Quincy Rhodes Jr.
They barely believed it either: Quincy Rhodes Jr. still on the board at pick 81. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick89 Rnd3 Suntarine Perkins
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went edge rusher with Suntarine Perkins while clear needs at interior defensive lineman, linebacker and other spots sat open.
Pick91 Rnd3 Tanner Koziol
Value said wait; Tanner Koziol in Round 3, Pick 27 says they were not listening. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick100 Rnd3 Kelby Collins
A curious use of the 100th overall pick. Interior defensive lineman, linebacker and other spots needed the pick; an edge rusher in Kelby Collins did not.
Pick126 Rnd4 Ian Strong
Ian Strong in the Round 4 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick127 Rnd4 A.J. Harris
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, A.J. Harris in No. 127, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick166 Rnd5 Robert Spears-Jennings
Robert Spears-Jennings in slot 166 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick232 Rnd7 David Bailey
The board fumbled David Bailey all the way to the 232nd overall pick, and they scooped it up. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick246 Rnd7 Josh Hoover
Somehow Josh Hoover was still sitting there in the Round 7 slot, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
