Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall C-
ValueF NeedB- TradesB+ FutureB-
The Cardinals landed square in the muddy middle: C-.

Nobody else had Montravius Lloyd anywhere near the Round 5 slot. The Cardinals did, by 358 spots, and that gap is the whole story. For now it grades a C-, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.

They banked enough surplus on Johnson to cover a lot of smaller sins. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want.

If Malik Muhammad and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Malik Muhammad
In the 8th overall pick they get a press-man option on the boundary, a steep price for the projection. More want than need.
Pick39 Rnd2 Blake Miller
A big swing on Blake Miller at No. 39, well ahead of any board in the building. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick70 Rnd3 Thomas Collins
A wild overpay on Thomas Collins in Round 3, Pick 6, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick75 Rnd3 Harold Perkins Jr.
Harold Perkins Jr. at the Round 3 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick105 Rnd4 Mikail Kamara
They jumped the gun on Mikail Kamara, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick144 Rnd5 Montravius Lloyd
They talked themselves into Montravius Lloyd at pick No. 144, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick188 Rnd6 Dylan Lonergan
Dylan Lonergan in the 188th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick222 Rnd7 Tao Johnson
Steal is underselling it; Tao Johnson at the 222nd pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
