Draft Grade — Jaguars

Grand theft in No. 233: the Jaguars steal Moore and grade out a C-.

Somebody in the 233rd overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Jaguars sat still while Dante Moore, the No. 5 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. It nets out a thoroughly average C-.

Every board in the league had Hasz lower, and that gap is the story. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.

Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.

Pick Analysis
Pick53 Rnd2 Zachariah Branch
Zachariah Branch at No. 53 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick66 Rnd3 Drew Shelton
A big swing on Drew Shelton at the Round 3 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick83 Rnd3 Luke Hasz
Luke Hasz at slot 83 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick84 Rnd3 Anthony Hill Jr.
Somehow Anthony Hill Jr. was still sitting there in the 84th pick, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. It fills a real need, too.
Pick100 Rnd3 Isaiah Nwokobia
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Isaiah Nwokobia. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick119 Rnd4 Roydell Williams
They reached a country mile for Roydell Williams at pick 119, and the board is aghast. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick161 Rnd5 Thomas Collins
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Thomas Collins well ahead of where he belonged. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick182 Rnd6 Deion Burks
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Deion Burks in the 182nd overall pick, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick206 Rnd6 Cam Calhoun
Cam Calhoun at the Round 6 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick233 Rnd7 Dante Moore
They robbed the room for Dante Moore here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick235 Rnd7 Le'Veon Moss
Le'Veon Moss in Round 7, Pick 21 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
Pick241 Rnd7 Gabe Jacas
A edge rusher of that caliber at the 241st pick is the definition of value, full stop. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
