Tkodger DRAFTING FOR THEVikings
Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall
C+
ValueC+
NeedC+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Vikings did enough to get by: C+. The Vikings clearly saw something nobody else did in Chase Roberts, taking him 52 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. Call it a C+ and check back in two years.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Running back is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
If Avieon Terrell and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Avieon Terrell
Avieon Terrell in No. 18 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick49
Rnd2
Deontae Lawson
By-the-book stuff, Deontae Lawson at the 49th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick82
Rnd3
Emmett Johnson
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Emmett Johnson. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick97
Rnd3
Chase Roberts
They left a pile of value on the table to take Chase Roberts this early at pick 97. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
