Draft Grade — Saints
Overall B

Sarratt should have been long gone. The Saints pounced, and earned a B.

Thirty-one other rooms let Elijah Sarratt slide, and the Saints were the ones holding the card at the 105th pick. Highway robbery. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

Every board in the league had Easter lower, and that gap is the story. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Kadyn Proctor
Kadyn Proctor in pick No. 5 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick37 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
A tidy bit of business in the Round 2 slot, where Jake Slaughter graded well above the range. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick69 Rnd3 Mansoor Delane
Mansoor Delane in Round 3, Pick 5 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick105 Rnd4 Elijah Sarratt
Elijah Sarratt at No. 105 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick138 Rnd4 Will Lee III
You do not let a cornerback like Will Lee III reach the 138th pick and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick144 Rnd5 Shamar Easter
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Shamar Easter well ahead of where he belonged. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick183 Rnd6 Tristan Leigh
A premium they did not need to pay, Tristan Leigh a notch or two before his time. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
