Draft Grade — Jets
Overall C+
ValueD+ NeedB- TradesC+ FutureB
The Jets landed square in the muddy middle: C+.

The Jets spent real capital to be 176 picks early on Zach Calzada, and the board is going to hold them to it. It washes out to a C+, no better and no worse.

However the rest shakes out, Roush at that price is a win they earned. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through cornerback.

Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

So much rides on Spencer Fano that the real verdict is a season or two away.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Spencer Fano
In Round 1, Pick 2 they get a long-term starter on the line, reach and all.
Pick16 Rnd1 CJ Allen
In the 16th pick they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece, even if it was a touch early. Need was not the driver here.
Pick33 Rnd2 Sam Hecht
Sam Hecht at the 33rd overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick44 Rnd2 Austin Barber
They reached into another round for Austin Barber, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The roster fit checks out.
Pick103 Rnd4 Isaiah Nwokobia
Isaiah Nwokobia at pick No. 103 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick192 Rnd6 Sawyer Robertson
Sawyer Robertson in No. 192 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick206 Rnd6 Kaidon Salter
A wild overpay on Kaidon Salter in pick 206, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick209 Rnd6 Zach Calzada
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Zach Calzada well ahead of where he belonged. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick218 Rnd7 Sam Roush
Sam Roush at No. 218 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick242 Rnd7 Sav'ell Smalls
They left a pile of value on the table to take Sav'ell Smalls this early at the 242nd pick. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
