Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall
C+
ValueD-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
A weekend that raised as many questions as it answered. The Falcons get a C+. Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Falcons spent the 195th pick on Joey Aguilar, a name the board had a full 59 spots lower.
The Delp value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
If Chase Bisontis and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick Analysis
Pick48
Rnd2
Chase Bisontis
They left a pile of value on the table to take Chase Bisontis this early at the 48th overall pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick79
Rnd3
Tacario Davis
A wild overpay on Tacario Davis in the 79th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick114
Rnd4
Albert Regis
Albert Regis at No. 114 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick195
Rnd6
Joey Aguilar
Joey Aguilar in Round 6, Pick 16 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick231
Rnd7
Oscar Delp
Oscar Delp at the Round 7 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
