The Chiefs went off the board in a big way for Fernando Carmona, 205 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.

Getting Bowry where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The Chiefs indulged a want in Smith while a need in wide receiver, tight end and other spots stayed open.

They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 2 of 8 of the wish list covered.

If Monroe Freeling and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
