Draft Grade — Steelers

The Steelers did enough to get by: C-. The Steelers clearly saw something nobody else did in Diego Pavia, taking him 206 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. A weekend of give and take that grades a C-.
The Moore pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They will answer for taking offensive lineman early while edge rusher and linebacker went begging. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Elijah Sarratt
In pick No. 21 they get a home-run threat at receiver, a steep price for the projection. A real need, handled.
Pick34
Rnd2
Diego Pavia
A big swing on Diego Pavia at Round 2, Pick 2, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick76
Rnd3
Tim Keenan III
They left a pile of value on the table to take Tim Keenan III this early at the 76th overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick85
Rnd3
Julian Neal
Julian Neal in the Round 3 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The roster fit checks out.
Pick99
Rnd3
Isaiah Jatta
Isaiah Jatta at slot 99 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick121
Rnd4
Demond Claiborne
Demond Claiborne in the 121st pick is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick135
Rnd4
Pat Coogan
Of all the spots to shop, they chose offensive lineman. Pat Coogan in No. 135 leaves edge rusher and linebacker for later.
Pick213
Rnd6
Louis Moore
Somehow Louis Moore was still sitting there in pick 213, and they pounced on premier safety value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick214
Rnd6
Miles Kitselman
By-the-book stuff, Miles Kitselman at Round 6, Pick 35 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Pick224
Rnd7
Brenen Thompson
You do not let a wide receiver like Brenen Thompson reach the Round 7 slot and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick237
Rnd7
Markis Deal
They reached into another round for Markis Deal, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
