Roush should have been long gone. The 49ers pounced, and earned a B-.

You build a draft on nights like this. Sam Roush had no business being available in slot 133, and the 49ers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The cost of the Miller reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Blake Miller
In pick 27 they get a building block for the line, though the board says they badly overpaid. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick58 Rnd2 Keylan Rutledge
They paid up for Keylan Rutledge at pick No. 58 when waiting would have done the job. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick127 Rnd4 Genesis Smith
Genesis Smith in the Round 4 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick133 Rnd4 Sam Roush
Sam Roush at slot 133 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick138 Rnd4 Parker Brailsford
A tidy little value on Parker Brailsford in Round 4, Pick 38, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick139 Rnd4 DeMonte Capehart
They took DeMonte Capehart at par in the 139th pick, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
