Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureD-
Nobody dealt better than the Steelers this weekend: B.

The Steelers ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided.

They are betting Claiborne proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

On value alone, Reese makes the weekend a net positive. Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In the Round 1 slot they get the heartbeat of the defense, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick30 Rnd1 Sonny Styles
In No. 30 they get a green-dot type in the middle at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Pick53 Rnd2 D'Angelo Ponds
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 53 with a little surplus value in D'Angelo Ponds. The roster fit checks out.
Pick76 Rnd3 Brian Parker II
A real head-scratcher, Brian Parker II in the 76th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick85 Rnd3 Skyler Bell
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Skyler Bell. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick99 Rnd3 Ja'Kobi Lane
Value with a capital V on Ja'Kobi Lane in the 99th pick, a genuine coup. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick121 Rnd4 Demond Claiborne
A big swing on Demond Claiborne at pick 121, well ahead of any board in the building. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick135 Rnd4 Drew Allar
A premium they did not need to pay, Drew Allar a notch or two before his time. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick159 Rnd5 Kage Casey
Nice patience on Kage Casey, who had no business lasting to pick 159. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick213 Rnd6 Thaddeus Dixon
No edge and no loss on Thaddeus Dixon in the Round 6 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick214 Rnd6 Isaiah Nwokobia
A straight-up fair deal on Isaiah Nwokobia at Round 6, Pick 35, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
