TB46 DRAFTING FOR THEBroncos
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Broncos for Hill Jr.: B. The Broncos did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Anthony Hill Jr. fell into pick 62. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Every board in the league had Gentry lower, and that gap is the story. The roster is better shaped than it was, with linebacker chief among the fixes.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Kenyon Sadiq
Kenyon Sadiq at the Round 1 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick62
Rnd2
Anthony Hill Jr.
Anthony Hill Jr. in pick 62 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick94
Rnd3
Omar Cooper Jr.
They let Omar Cooper Jr. come to them and pounced at slot 94. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick108
Rnd4
Justin Joly
A reasonable price with a little left over, Justin Joly in pick No. 108. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick130
Rnd4
Mike Washington Jr.
Mike Washington Jr. at the 130th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick168
Rnd5
Gracen Halton
A straight-up fair deal on Gracen Halton at No. 168, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick246
Rnd7
Eric Gentry
A big swing on Eric Gentry at Round 7, Pick 30, well ahead of any board in the building. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick251
Rnd7
Rueben Owens II
A tidy little value on Rueben Owens II in the 251st overall pick, a step better than break-even. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick255
Rnd7
Jordan Hall
Value with a capital V on Jordan Hall in pick 255, a genuine coup. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
