The Jets drew a line under the quarterback search with Mendoza: B. The search is over. The Jets handed the keys to Fernando Mendoza, and the whole operation now runs on his development. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
They are betting Payton proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.
That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
