FutureC-
The Buccaneers did enough to get by: C+. Nobody else had Sevion Morrison anywhere near slot 121. The Buccaneers did, by 303 spots, and that gap is the whole story. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C+ in the wash.
The Evans pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
Will Johnson
A reach on Will Johnson in the Round 1 slot; the board had better options right there. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick84
Rnd3
Donovan Ezeiruaku
Somehow Donovan Ezeiruaku was still sitting there in slot 84, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick121
Rnd4
Sevion Morrison
Value said wait; Sevion Morrison in No. 121 says they were not listening. It fills a real need, too.
Pick157
Rnd5
Kai Kroeger
Kai Kroeger at Round 5, Pick 19 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick193
Rnd6
Mitchell Evans
Mitchell Evans at the 193rd pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick210
Rnd6
Brady Cook
Brady Cook at pick 210 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
