Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall A-
ValueB+ NeedB- TradesA+ FutureA
The Commanders won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: A-.

The Commanders did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jadarian Price fell into No. 102. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A-.

The Harris pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class.

They will answer for taking linebacker early while quarterback went begging. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Bottom line, with Arvell Reese leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In the 24th pick they get a three-down second-level presence, outstanding value to boot. More want than need.
Pick36 Rnd2 CJ Allen
A surprising call. With quarterback still to address, they spent pick 36 on CJ Allen, a linebacker they were not short of.
Pick71 Rnd3 D'Angelo Ponds
Taking D'Angelo Ponds in pick No. 71 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick102 Rnd4 Jadarian Price
They will replay Jadarian Price at the 102nd pick for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick117 Rnd4 Max Llewellyn
A real head-scratcher, Max Llewellyn in pick 117 is miles ahead of his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick145 Rnd5 Nate Boerkircher
Nate Boerkircher in No. 145 is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick180 Rnd6 Ted Hurst
A tidy little value on Ted Hurst in slot 180, a step better than break-even. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick185 Rnd6 Zxavian Harris
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Zxavian Harris. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick196 Rnd6 Aamil Wagner
The board fumbled Aamil Wagner all the way to Round 6, Pick 17, and they scooped it up. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick223 Rnd7 Isaiah Nwokobia
Isaiah Nwokobia in the Round 7 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
