The Chargers put a flag in the ground for Tre Williams, 346 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit.

They banked enough surplus on Ward to cover a lot of smaller sins. Spending an early pick on specialist with cornerback open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and cornerback is still a hole.
