Draft Grade — Saints

The steal of the weekend belongs to the Saints and Gray: B. The Saints did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Joshua Gray fell into Round 7, Pick 32. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want. Pearce Jr. has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
James Pearce Jr.
In the Round 1 slot they get a problem off the edge, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick40
Rnd2
Mykel Williams
Mykel Williams at No. 40 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick71
Rnd3
Carson Schwesinger
Carson Schwesinger in pick No. 71 is fair value, right on his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick93
Rnd3
Kevin Winston Jr.
A straight-up fair deal on Kevin Winston Jr. at the 93rd pick, value and slot in agreement. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick112
Rnd4
David Walker
No drama and no debate, David Walker went about where he belonged in the 112th overall pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick131
Rnd4
Tai Felton
Steal is underselling it; Tai Felton at pick 131 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick248
Rnd7
Joshua Gray
Joshua Gray in Round 7, Pick 32 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick254
Rnd7
Jackson Hawes
They paid up for Jackson Hawes at slot 254 when waiting would have done the job. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
