The Lions worked the phones like thieves and earned a B-. The Lions looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Dayon Hayes at pick 28 regardless, 289 picks early.
That is an interior defensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. For all the activity, safety went untouched, which is hard to explain.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Dayon Hayes
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get juice off the edge, a steep price for the projection. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick60
Rnd2
Shavon Revel Jr.
The board fumbled Shavon Revel Jr. all the way to the Round 2 slot, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick102
Rnd3
Jackson Slater
Jackson Slater at pick 102 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick130
Rnd4
Derrick Harmon
They barely believed it either: Derrick Harmon still on the board at the 130th pick. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick244
Rnd7
Jah Joyner
Jah Joyner at No. 244 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
