Draft Grade — Panthers

The jury is out on the Panthers. For now, C. The Panthers went off the board in a big way for Trikweze Bridges, 316 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. Fine in stretches, shaky in others: a C.
The Royals steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Nic Scourton
In the Round 1 slot they get a disruptor off the edge, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick57
Rnd2
Elijhah Badger
They talked themselves into Elijhah Badger at No. 57, and the board did not agree. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick74
Rnd3
Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins at pick No. 74 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick111
Rnd4
Trikweze Bridges
Trikweze Bridges at slot 111 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick114
Rnd4
Jalen Royals
They robbed the room for Jalen Royals here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick140
Rnd5
Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson at pick 140 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick146
Rnd5
Vernon Broughton
They left a pile of value on the table to take Vernon Broughton this early at the 146th pick. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick163
Rnd5
Kai Kroeger
They reached into another round for Kai Kroeger, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick230
Rnd7
Chandler Martin
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Chandler Martin well ahead of where he belonged. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
