Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesB+ FutureB-
The Bears checked most of the boxes and earned a B.

There is reaching, and then there is Will Kacmarek at slot 239. The Bears jumped the board by 74 and dared it to prove them wrong.

However the rest shakes out, Caldwell at that price is a win they earned. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. The trade work was a quiet net positive.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick41 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
Nothing to complain about; Dillon Thieneman went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick47 Rnd2 Derrick Moore
The board had cheaper options than Derrick Moore at the Round 2 slot, and it noticed. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick60 Rnd2 Anthony Hill Jr.
Anthony Hill Jr. at the 60th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick67 Rnd3 Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter slid further than he should have, and No. 67 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick89 Rnd3 Daylen Everette
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Daylen Everette at Round 3, Pick 25 is the proof. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick113 Rnd4 Nicholas Singleton
They did well to land Nicholas Singleton in slot 113, just ahead of his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick129 Rnd4 DeMonte Capehart
They jumped the gun on DeMonte Capehart, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick175 Rnd5 Zane Durant
They took Zane Durant at par in the 175th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick214 Rnd6 Jeff Caldwell
Steal is underselling it; Jeff Caldwell at No. 214 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick239 Rnd7 Will Kacmarek
Will Kacmarek at pick 239 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick241 Rnd7 TJ Hall
The board fumbled TJ Hall all the way to slot 241, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
