Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Jaguars.

The Jaguars clearly saw something nobody else did in Mikail Kamara, taking him 30 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. It is not that Traore is a bad player; it is that the Jaguars had louder needs to answer first. Getting Carter Jr. where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

On the needs board they went 5 of 9, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick51 Rnd2 Ja'Kobi Lane
Ja'Kobi Lane at pick 51 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick82 Rnd3 Caleb Tiernan
Caleb Tiernan in No. 82 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick85 Rnd3 Mikail Kamara
Mikail Kamara in the 85th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick100 Rnd3 Boubacar Traore
A surprising call. With interior defensive lineman, linebacker and other spots still to address, they spent the Round 3 slot on Boubacar Traore, an edge rusher they were not short of.
Pick120 Rnd4 D'Angelo Ponds
A clean, defensible pick in Round 4, Pick 20 with a little surplus value in D'Angelo Ponds. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick159 Rnd5 Terrance Carter Jr.
Value with a capital V on Terrance Carter Jr. in slot 159, a genuine coup. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick232 Rnd7 Malik Hartford
By-the-book stuff, Malik Hartford at the Round 7 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Pick243 Rnd7 Pat Coogan
A premium they did not need to pay, Pat Coogan a notch or two before his time. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
